Read moreThe Honda Civic is Canada's most popular car model, selling over two million units since its first launch back in the 1970s. The 2019 release of the Civic is the third update of the model's latest generation, and it adds many finishing touches to what is by now a mature, dependable yet still exciting car.
As the Civic model has evolved, the range has expanded to cover standard sedan, sporty coupe and spacious hatchback versions. All body styles are built around the same reliable mechanics, combining solid performance with comfort and convenience.
To add to the body choices, there's also a good range of trim options, from the standard entry-level DX to the top-level Sport Touring. Each of the seven trim choices offers a tailored combination of under-the-hood options and interior extras, giving every driver what they're looking for.
But whichever version you choose, the Honda Civic 2019 is one of the more spacious models for sale within the compact class. Families won't be cramped for room, either in the cabin or with the generous trunk storage.
The various trim options across the 2019 range feature performance personalities to suit different uses and driving styles.
The standard engines are 4-cylinder, 16-valve types ranging from 1.5-litre to 2.0-litre, with a turbocharged option available on the higher-end sports models.
Choose from continuously variable automatic transmission for comfort and convenience, or 6-speed manual for full control and fine-edged performance. Both options feed the engine power into front-wheel drive for dependable control under all conditions.
And while not all models are oriented toward performance, they all feature solid handling and a nimble but smooth engine response.
The Honda Civic 2019 is one of the more economical models in its class. At the lower end of the price range, the DX achieves 9.30 L/100 km in city driving and 6.50 L/100 km on the highway.
The higher-end Sport Touring trim makes 8 L/100 km in the city and 6.20 L/100 km on the highway, and the various other versions lie in the same range.
As you'd expect from a modern car aimed at a mainstream buyer, safety is a strong point. The Civic 2019's standard features include:
There's a reason the Civic has been such a popular model throughout its history. Years of design refinement mean that it's now one of the most reliable cars for sale, especially within its compact class. A recent independent consumer report placed the Civic as one of three Honda models in the top ten list for long-term reliability.
Combine this reliability with great value, solid performance and plenty of space for a compact, and it's clear why the Honda Civic remains Canada's best selling car in its class.
