Read moreHonda has developed a new airbag that will be added to all its models starting in 2020. The objective of this new airbag is to better protect the occupants in case of a collision by adapting to the angle of the accident.
The new Honda Airbag is able to deploy at an angle using three inflatable sections plus a panel to protect the head regardless of the direction of the frontal collision and resulting head movement. The objective is essentially to catch the head in the panel and better surround it when there’s an accident.
"This new airbag technology represents Honda's ongoing effort to advance safety in a wider variety of accident scenarios and reflects the innovative thinking of our engineers to meet the challenge of reducing the number of injuries and fatalities on the road, "said Jim Keller, president of Honda R & D Americas Inc." Guided by Honda's commitment to safety for all, our engineers recognize that their work on this kind of groundbreaking safety technology will have a profound impact on people’s life for many years to come.
