Read moreThe 2020 Honda CR-V and the 2020 Nissan Rogue are two compact SUVs at the top of their game in their segment. Very popular, this niche brings together more than 15 models seeking to stand out among consumers. So, there are a lot of choices, but if interior space and ride comfort are important to you, the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue are probably the two best options. There are, however, notable differences in performance.
A much better engine in the 2020 Honda CR-V
The 2020 Honda CR-V comes standard with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine developing 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. This engine is turbocharged which means that it delivers its power at very low speed. Concretely, this means that when you press the right pedal on the highway to pass or when you drive in the city, you have the maximum power available. This will immediately give you confidence and allow you to face the road with a smile.
The 2020 Nissan Rogue gets a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The difference may not seem so great on paper, but on the road, it is immediately noticeable. The Rogue takes more than 10 seconds to reach 100 km/h while the CR-V does the same exercise in just 8.2 seconds.
Note also that the 2020 Honda CR-V averages about 1.0 liters less per 100 kilometers in the city despite its higher power. So, you get a more powerful engine in the Honda CR-V with less fuel consumption.
It is also important to mention that the 2020 Honda CR-V comes with the complete suite of Honda Sensing technologies, active safety systems which include intelligent cruise control, accident prevention, automatic braking, lane departure warning and prevention, and much more. The 2020 Nissan Rogue offers similar technologies, but you have to opt for the most expensive model to get them.
