Read moreThe Honda Civic celebrates entering its 10th generation with much to be excited about. It poises itself to win many head-to-head battles with its competitors, especially with the Civic’s trim selection, performance, passenger and cargo volume and more. Here, we compare the 2020 Honda Civic to the 2020 Hyundai Elantra.
The Honda Civic offers three models - Sedan, Coupe and Hatchback - with 13 total trim combinations. The Elantra offers a sedan with four trim levels. Even when compared to the Civic Sedan, the Civic still offers two more trim levels and features.
The Civic has a lower roof (-20mm), is longer (+21mm) and has a lower ground clearance of up to 31 mm. This creates a lower center of gravity that offers more control of the vehicle when handling around tight corners.
The 2020 Honda Civic offers a range of horsepower options
The Civic includes two engines that offer better power and torque than what the Hyundai Elantra brings to the table. Standard in the DX, LX, EX and Sport trims, a 2.0L four-cylinder engine delivers 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. This clearly outperforms the 2.0L four-cylinder offered on the Elantra that reaches 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.
The Civic Touring and Si trims include a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine with two sets of performance. The Touring increases horsepower to 174 and torque to 162 lb-ft, and the Si reaches 205 hp with 192 lb-ft of torque.
The Civic and Elantra offer continuously variable transmissions as standard equipment on three trims in each line. The Civic’s DX, LX and Si trims receive a manual six-speed transmission for optimum flexibility and sportiness. The Elantra offers one trim with a manual transmission.
The 2020 Honda Civic offers more passenger and cargo volume
The Civic edges out the Elantra in passenger volume. With 2,769 litres of space versus 2,713 in the Elantra, this results in more rear seat legroom (+44mm), front shoulder room (+20mm), and front hip room (+8mm). The Civic also offers more cargo capacity with 428 litres of available trunk storage, offering to hold a few extra bags, pieces of gear, sports equipment and more over the Elantra’s 407 litres.
There are many other technologies, convenience, connectivity and more features to discover in the 2020 Honda Civic. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call or e-mail and can answer all your questions.
